Making a charitable gift can and should be a highly personal experience. There are many ways to make a gift to support the important work of ERS while also meeting your own personal financial and philanthropic goals. Some of the most common ways to give to ERS include:
Cash contributions by check or credit card offer the easiest ways to give.
Checks can be mailed to:
The ERS Foundation accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. You can make a secure online gift to ERS today by completing our online gift form or by contacting Joy Blang at (513) 979-2309 for assistance in processing your gift.
Additionally, cash can be sent electronically to ERS. Please contact Joy Blang for assistance at (513) 979-2313 or email jblang@erslife.org.
A recurring gift is a pre-set, monthly contribution that a donor wishes to make by automatically charging a credit card or by making arrangements with a financial institution to issue regular payments. Some donors believe giving smaller amounts on a regular basis enables them to more comfortably give a larger gift than they might be able to in one lump sum.
ERS staff members can choose to donate to ERS through payroll deduction. Please contact Joy Blang, Executive Director of Philanthropy, for assistance at (513) 979-2313 or email jblang@erslife.org.
A gift of appreciated stock you have held for more than one year qualifies for a tax deduction for the full amount of the gift and you pay no capital gains tax on the appreciation. These benefits reduce the real cost to the donor of making a gift to ERS.
Before transferring any asset, please contact Joy Blang, Executive Director of Philanthropy, at (513) 979-2313 or jblang@erslife.org, with details regarding the specific asset. For gifts of stock, please include the name of the stock, the number of shares to be donated, the intended date of transfer and the name of the bank the stocks will be coming from.
ERS maintains an account at PNC bank for the acceptance of tax-deductible wire transfers as well as donations of stock, securities and other assets.

After receiving confirmation of the transfer, ERS will mail you an acknowledgment letter which serves as your tax receipt. Per IRS regulations, the amount of a gift of stock is determined by the average of the high and low values per share on the date of transfer.
ERS welcomes gifts made in honor or memory of an individual of special importance to the donor. These could include:
To make a memorial or honorary gift, follow any of the procedures described above, making sure to identify the individual you intend to honor or memorialize. Upon receipt of such a gift, the Foundation Office will mail you a receipt and—if you wish—notify the honoree or, in the case of a memorial gift, a designated individual or family member of your thoughtful contribution.
ERS accepts gifts-in-kind that are appropriate to its mission.
In the simplest terms, estate planning is the process of taking control of your assets. Gift planning is nothing more than a set of instructions that clearly spells out the way assets and property should be managed during life and distributed at death. Visit our Planned Giving page, which is devoted to explaining all the planned giving options available to our supporters. It also has more information on our Living Legacy Society.
