Since 1951, ERS has worked to improve the lives of older adults through innovative, quality senior living communities and community services to older adults.
Person-Centered Care (PCC) is the common thread running throughout all of ERS’s communities and programs. Driven by a desire to exceed normal care giving practices, PCC enables staff to interact with people on a higher level of empathy and understanding. When people are allowed to make their own choices and to approach each day on their own terms, the result is a truly remarkable living experience.
Perhaps the most vivid example of Person-Centered Care in action is at the nursing care level. Resident choice is supported regarding when to wake up in the morning and when to go to bed at night, when to eat their meals, when to bathe and get dressed, and what activities to participate in each day. ERS has gone to great lengths to replace the traditionally institutional atmosphere with the creature comforts of home.
But the PCC philosophy has also moved beyond skilled nursing care. It has permeated throughout all ERS communities and programs. Whether a resident or a client of services, all people ERS serves are treated with dignity and respect – and as the unique individuals they have always been.
